Superglue is a three-piece alternative rock band out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their first release was in 2024 with a single titled “Tipping 3”, (my personal favorite song of theirs) but they have been around since 2020. The band members consist of Johnny Montanez on vocals and guitar, Owen Davies on guitar, and Ian Zempel on bass and vocals. So far, they have five singles and one EP released in December of 2025. The EP is actually their most recent release, titled “The Factory”. It consists of four dreamy-sounding rock songs. I asked about the inspirations behind the songs on their new release, they replied, “I think what inspired us the most writing these songs, was fighting and surviving hardships and setbacks. Since the project had a lot of ups and downs with timing issues and scheduling conflicts, seeing the project finally through was inspiring within ourselves.” -Superglue.
The artwork on their recent covers really intrigued me, the vibrant colors of pinks and blues, including the abstract imagery, really suit the vibe that their music radiates. The artist behind this is a photographer from the Milwaukee area by the name of Zach.
“I love his photography and was happy to work with him recently.” -Superglue.
The band’s influences consist of artists like the Smashing Pumpkins, Hum, and Sonic Youth. Non-musical influences include films like Eraserhead, Godzilla, Boogie Nights, and books like Catcher in the Rye and Jurassic Park.
Superglue’s plans for the future entail making music and making friends as they go along with their journey. “We appreciate everybody who comes out to see us and listens to us and that truly is what inspires us to continue.” -Superglue.
I saw Superglue at Jambalaya’s Art in the Alley a couple of years ago, bright and early in the morning, and I have been interested ever since. They are definitely a band that’s worth checking out.
You made it this far, so go run and mark your calendars! Superglue is playing Saturday, April 4th at Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. in Milwaukee, along with other bands playing that night like MX LONELY, Shamewave, and Hypersleep.
