Squirrel Girl Goes to College starts off with Doreen Green (played by Brynn Bellcorelli) and her inner squirrel self, who is played by Kiley Musha.
You first see Doreen Green’s appearance in the 1991 Super-Heroes Winter Special. In later comics, Doreen faces one of the spine-chilling villains in Marvel, Doctor Doom, the man who ripped out Thanos’ spine in one of the multiverses. In SGGTC, Doctor Doom and Squirrel Girl have already met and battled.
In the opening scene, you see Dr. Doom (Jack Anderson) threatening Squirrel Girl. At the end of the 45-minute play, Dr. Doom was yet again attacked by a squirrel, the one and only Squirrel Girl.
Something that has set this play apart from the recent ones is an issue with the lighting system. The plays are typically always held at North in the LRB; each year, as the school gets older, more and more things find new ways to stop working. This year, it was the entire stage lighting system. “Usually, I do the stage lighting, but this year our lights weren’t working, so it gave me more time to focus on the different aspects of the play,” Senior Kaisten Feiter, the stage manager of the play, shared her opinion on the situation.
With the referendum going into effect next school year, the school will receive a brand-new auditorium with pristine lighting.
As the fall play has now wrapped up, preparations for the spring play, She Kills Monsters, will begin in March!
