On March 19th, 2026, two days before spring break started, 42 Communities students, alumni, family, and staff began their journey to O’Hare International Airport for their flight to Toronto, then to the London Heathrow Airport. This trip was organized by veteran trip-planner, traveler, and Communities teacher Gina Munig.
While in London the group spent their time exploring the Churchill War Rooms, the Tower of London, and the Millennium Bridge. After a Jack the Ripper tour and a funny play, the group enjoyed classic fish and chips before taking the Chunnel to France on March 22nd.
Communities sophomore Olivia Baer, explained, “I loved learning the history and seeing all of the sites of London and Paris. But importantly, I loved being able to spend time with my friends.”
In Paris, the days were packed with visits to Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa. From shopping at famous bookstores and touring the massive Palace of Versailles, to taking a boat ride down the river, the trip was a perfect mix of famous history and great food.
“My favorite aspect of traveling with students is experiencing the world through their perspective—the culture, history, architecture, and cuisine. I believe these trips inspire a lifelong curiosity and a lasting desire to explore and learn from the world around them,” Munig explained.
The Communities program plans to continue to travel over spring break every other year, so who knows where the next adventure will be.
