The Communities Program received a major boost on Friday, April 10th with a $3,100 donation from Winnebago County, Guys Who Give. Stephen McCullough, Chapter President of the organization, presented the generous check during the C2 class time after Communities was nominated and chosen by the group’s members.
Communities was nominated by a Guys Who Give Member. After the nomination, it then won the majority vote of the members to become the second-quarter recipient.
To learn more about the program, McCullough visited North to interact with the students. He expressed high praise for the program and its participants, stating, “I am blown away… What an amazing program your team is running. Your students are remarkable and it is so encouraging to see how they’re engaging with the community.”
Communities plans to use the money to help support junior projects in the program in the future. Barby Ames, Communities teacher, explained, “I love that a local group was able to see the good that our students are able to accomplish in our community. I also love that the money the gifted grant brought the program will stay right here in Oshkosh with different local projects. That’s a win-win scenario.”
