Election season is fast approaching, with less than 40 days left for voters in the U.S. to decide who they’ll be voting for. But who else is up on the ballot, other than Kamala Harris and Donald Trump?
From local to state, here’s who’s running in Oshkosh:
- For state representative for District 49, one Democrat and Republican candidate are running.
- Lori Palmeri was the 49th mayor of Oshkosh, and has been a state representative for the 54th district (district where Oshkosh falls on legislative maps) since 2022. She is running for re-election as a Democratic representative this November.
- Tim Paterson is also running for state representative, against the incumbent Lori Palmeri. He grew up in Wisconsin and is a veteran, which he discusses frequently on his political campaign.
- For State Senator to District 18, Kristin Alfheim is running as the democratic candidate, with Anthony Wayne Phillips running as the republican candidate.
- Anthony Wayne Phillips is a cancer physician from Appleton, describing himself as a conservative. He has advocated for other conservative politicians in the past, such as former Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker.
- Kristin Alfheim is a common council member in Appleton, having run previously for State Senate for District 19 back in 2022, losing to Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevera. Alfheim recently stated she’s focusing on issues impacting voters, like the cost of groceries, childcare and wages.
- Running for Representative in Congress District 6 is the incumbent Republican Glenn Grothman, and John Zarbano, the democratic candidate.
- Glenn Grothman has been Congressman for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District since 2014. He is ranked number one on the Axios Trump Loyalty Index.
- John Zarbano is challenging Grothman’s position as Congressman, running as a Democrat. A Democrat has not represented Wisconsin’s 6th District since 1964.
- Lastly, Tammy Baldwin and Eric Hovde are running for Wisconsin State Senate.
- Tammy Baldwin, the incumbent Democratic State Senator, is running for re-election this November. She has served as Wisconsin’s State Senator since 2013. Baldwin is often blamed for border and crime issues in Wisconsin by Republicans.
- Eric Hovde, a Republican politician, is challenging Baldwin’s place as Senator. Plenty of controversy has arisen about Hovde as well, such as continuing his career as a banker in California even though he’s running for Wisconsin State Senate.
