On Tuesday, February 15, the Oshkosh North High School Black Student Union held the first all-school assembly to celebrate black history month.

A group of students performed a step routine while freshman Harmony Obiala delivered a self-written spoken word piece and 2021 graduate Endyiah Simpson sang the song “Stand Up.”

Most of the assembly centered around keynote speaker Dr. Alphonso Simpson Jr., director of African American studies at UW Oshkosh. He spoke about the importance of learning about black people’s influence on the world we live in today.
