OASD cancels decision to return to hybrid model

November 4, 2020

Despite briefly considering a return to a hybrid learning schedule this Thursday, the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) has opted to remain in the virtual model until at least January 11, 2021.

To clarify, students will not return to in-person learning on Thursday, Nov. 12.

In a letter, the OASD clarified that the change in plans occurred due to key factors such as a significant increase in the daily rate of cases, a shift in data trends, the impact of expected holiday travel, and feedback on student learning and well-being.

Although limited in-person services, such as those for special education and English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), will continue, the weeks of Nov. 30 – Dec. 4, 2020 and Jan. 4 – 8, 2021 will remain entirely virtual to help reduce COVID-19 risks caused by holiday travel.

“Our goal remains to continue to do what is best for students, staff, and our entire community while making decisions based on the latest available information and expert guidance,” the public release stated.
