The Halloween franchise will get a Major update in 2026. Halloween is a popular franchise brought to life by the original 1978 film Halloween, directed by John Carpenter. Forty-seven years later, Halloween will be a featured game on Xbox series X|S, Playstation, and PC via Steam and Epic games store, releasing September 2026. The Halloween game will feature a single player story mode where you can play as your favorite characters. The single player mode is recommended to be played beforehand to get an understanding of the game and its mechanics. The game will also have a multiplayer mode, which you can play locally with friends or online with strangers. Both game modes will come with a possible 17+ rating.
The game will allow you to play as characters such as Michael Myers and normal people such as Laurie Strode, the main protagonist throughout Halloween. The game will feature different maps made of separate locations based on the films. Similar to the popular 2016 game “Dead by Daylight”, the I multiplayer mode will feature a mechanic where you, as Michael, will have to turn off power to stop survivors from calling the police. It was revealed that Halloween will have a “Holy sh!t” mechanic, something other games haven’t conceived yet.
The Halloween game struck controversy when one of the companies working on it was revealed to be “Gun Interactive”. Gun Interactive is a company who the community sees as one familiar with abandoning the games they previously worked on, as they’re most known for slacking on projects similar to Halloween, a prime example being the 2023 “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” which is agreed upon by many to be clunky, hard to learn, and hasn’t seen a major update since its release. These are games the horror community thrive on. Gun Interactive’s approach to games could’ve been what would turn into a big problem for the game. Although this controversial problem has been discovered and talked about, the community is slowly coming to a realization that un Interactive isn’t the only company working on the game, meaning Halloween may not meet the same fate others have.
