New Eyes is a club with the mission to inspire individuals to gain new perspectives through activities such as goalball, dining in the dark, and various games that simulate challenges people face. Recruitment meetings will take place during Excel on Wednesdays, biweekly, and after school once a month.
The club was founded by a student with special needs who wanted to inspire others with similar challenges to recognize their ability to impact the lives of others. Often, individuals with special needs are told they cannot achieve certain things. While tasks may require different approaches, disabilities do not define who a person is. Instead, they shape individuals and contribute to their unique perspectives. This belief drives the club’s founder to make a difference.
Additionally, New Eyes seeks to provide opportunities for people to experience and better understand the challenges others face. By gaining perspectives they might not otherwise encounter, participants can develop a deeper awareness of the diverse experiences of people around the world.
The club is seeking members and volunteers to assist with running, setting up, and cleaning up the monthly after-school activities. Volunteers for these events may choose to become members of the club, and their volunteer hours also count toward Polaris credit.
