Mini-Review: Spider-Man: Far From Home
September 2, 2019
Despite a release gap of over two months, Spider-Man: Far From Home quite understandably stood in the shadows of its preceding Marvel film, Avengers: Endgame, now the highest grossing film of all time.
Released on August 29, 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) peruses some superhero off time while being pressured by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to assist in a mission to save the world.
The movie continues the great connecting plot of every Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film yet holds onto the constant humor found in others like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok. This brilliant combination keeps fans of other Marvel films enthralled while preserving the details that keep average moviegoers satisfied.
Although humor is a larger part of Spider-Man: Far From Home than movies like Avengers: Endgame, it certainly does not lack action with plenty of riveting conflict necessary for all superhero movies.
Comic book fans should also enjoy the movie as MCU films tend to stay true to the many comics that inspired them while simultaneously updating the characters and story with some modern twists. Spider-Man: Far From Home executes this perfectly, particularly with the character Mysterio who was updated from an expert in movie deception to an expert in using technology to augment reality.
Overall, Spider-Man: Far From Home is an extremely enjoyable film, that is just as—if not more—entertaining as Avengers: Endgame.
Spider-Man Far From Home scores a 9 out of 10!
